Zaffres Letter to her Teacher
Zaffre's letter in the mechanical crow- she does not send it to her father, but to her magic teacher. Of course written in obnoxiously flowery high elven calligraphy but also in Celestial to reduce the chances of easy snooping.
Most Esteemed Loremaster Siannodel,
It is with great relief that I pen these words, assuring you that my sister and I remain unscathed, though the path before us has diverged from our original intent. By fate's capricious hand, we now find ourselves enmeshed in a perilous endeavor to seal the gates of the Black Cathedral, a task of no small import. I am certain your illustrious library, with its vast repositories of knowledge, shall reveal the intricacies of this matter in greater detail. In brief, the cathedral harbors a portal—a nexus betwixt the planes—a conduit through which demons and demigods alike may tread. Our mission is no less than to thwart the designs of the Demon Prince of Undeath and the Eater of Worlds, preventing them from breaching this gateway.
Should you possess knowledge of any obelisks of power entwined with this dread phenomenon within the borders of Celene, I beseech you to see them obliterated without delay. I lament that circumstances prevent me from accessing the wealth of tomes that undoubtedly hold the wisdom we so desperately require. Thus, I humbly entreat you to undertake this research on my behalf. Your teachings on the arcane—so meticulously imparted—have been the cornerstone upon which I have built my own inquiries.
Enclosed herein, you will find a spell of my own devising, crafted to counter the surge of undead activity and the malevolent energies that pervade these cursed lands.
Regarding the other matters at hand, I am uncertain whether Erevan Nym successfully conveyed our message to Celene after our last encounter.
Alas, I fear that Hawkwin, thrall to the Queen of Spiders, intercepted him before he could speak to us once more. Hawkwin harbors dark intent, seeking the lives of both my father and sister. I shall not allow him to claim her, yet I find myself unable to safeguard them both. It is my fervent hope that he acts alone, so that while he pursues us, those in Celene remain beyond his reach.
Time and resources are scarce in this forsaken place, yet I persevere in my studies as best I can. I must confess, however, that necessity has driven me beyond the boundaries of divination and abjuration, for the world outside the palace walls is fraught with peril.
Please convey my warmest regards to Gal’thorion and Nimrithiel.
By the sacred light of Corellon Larethian,
Lly'lanth'lor'el Thrael of Celene
